Solo effort from Tunng's Mike Lindsay
Cheek Mountain Thief - Cheek Mountain Thief

For his first solo outing away from folktronica outfit Tunng, songwriter Mike Lindsay decided to move to the fishing town of Husavik in Iceland where he fell in love with the culture, landscape and people. Recording his debut with a collection of local musicians amid a wild, snowcapped backdrop, ‘Cheek Mountain Thief’ has taken some elements of his other band: the odd water-drop bleeps on ‘Spirit Fight’ and quirky melodies of ‘Showdown’, and interweaved them with the traditional music of Iceland. Certainly it’s a step away from Tunng’s electronic leanings, but folk experimentalist habits die hard and there’s something surprisingly familiar about these results.
