Bo Ningen – Bo Ningen

Prog-rock for the 21st century

With their on-stage acrobatics and psychedelic threads, jazzed-up noise-kraut quartet Bo Ningen can certainly entertain the crowds. During the album’s quieter moments of ‘Gasmask Rabbit’ and ‘Yuruyaka’ it is not so important to place the band within this live context, but as the album is built on aesthetic foundations such as these, first time listeners may be deprived of the full Bo Ningen effect. Managing to straddle both the retrograde and the progressive at the same time with their fifteen-minute long guitar freak outs, impressive chord changes and Led Zep-style yelping, this is prog-rock for the twenty-first century.
