Somewhat removed from the robust radio friendly pop of their first Hoffer collaboration The Life Pursuit, this latest record inhabits a more delicate sonic framework, reminiscent of early B & S; Tigermilk and Fold Your Hands Child…perhaps.
‘I Can See It Coming’ perfectly encapsulates this with its trumpet fanfares, twinkling keys, climatic orchestral manoeuvres and Sarah Martin’s bittersweet vocals. Of course there are still the upbeat retro organs and witty vocal ditties noted on tracks like ‘Come On Sister’ and ‘I’m Not Living In the Real World’ but overall this is a beautifully mellow comeback for the modest indie-pop luminaries.
