The opening title track from this Australian brother-sister duo’s new EP is surprisingly prosaic, with Angus’ coming on like Horse With No Name but without the “desert sun”.
Thankfully hope arrives towards the end when his sister’s beautiful backing vocals kick in. Julia takes the lead to good effect on three of the six tracks here: the jerky slow rumba of Purple Skivvy, a fine Beth Orton impression on the jaunty country-flecked I’ll Wait and the sparse folk of Choking. The other songs with Angus singing seem more predictable by comparison. Still even if I don’t, I’m sure their parents love them equally.
