The first of the Amy clones comes rolling off the record company racks in the form of 19-year old Londoner Adele.
One’s usual reaction to industry hype is tempered by the rather regretful opening lines of her debut single, “I made up my mind / don’t need to think it over”. So let’s not be too judgemental on just one song. Adele has a good voice veering from the dusky opening through bittersweet verse to soaring chorus. The song is cheesy and she can be overly showy but should she “keep chasing pavements” of pop? Why not?
