Every time you think twee is a bit old hat, some cheery-as-fuck band pop up from nowhere, or, in this case, from times long forgotten, and fill your ears with the twinkling sounds of ukuleles, xylophones, glockenspiels and/or wondrous optimism. Who said this was a bad thing? Sometimes we could all use a bit of happy.
But ‘Somewhere To Jump From’ isn’t as sugary sweet as it would appear; cynical lyrics are lost within sunshine-drenched music, stringing together a rather pleasantly down-to-earth, true-to-word honest record. A fair but slightly subdued effort from the long-lost Scots.
