Dropkicks throwbacks into sounding relevant
Jam City - Classical Curves

This here electro/bass light show of Jack Latham is a demonstration of superficiality and an unceremonious transfer of science fiction of the past, into the present, campaigning for the future. ‘Her’, doing chintzy B-more filled with camera flash percussion, is the kind of cold wave suspended in a malfunctioning, enigmatic, misunderstood time-warp, where gaudy treble charms low ends in a world full of funfair mirrors. The instrumentalism threatens to root itself to the spot (‘Love Is Real’), yet elsewhere, ‘Hyatt Park Nights’ chirps like an R&B smoothie. The state-of-the-art as genre-bending, freestyling bemusement, Jam City dropkicks throwbacks into sounding relevant.
