Coldplay Endorsed Shoegaze

It was a baptism of fire.

After playing together for only a few weeks, London based indie pop outfit The High Wire attracted the attention of Coldplay singer Chris Martin. Inviting them on tour, the band were thrown into a world of stadium tours and massive crowds.

The experience has only strengthened them. Inspired by the harmonies of The Byrds and Teenage Fanclub the band's songwriting is at times almost retro, buoyed by the most forward thinking of elements.

Debut album 'The Sleep Tape' has the visceral thrill of My Bloody Valentine but also contains a nod to the dance-rock of New Order. Throughout it all, though, is a stoned menace at odds with the ethereal vocals.

ClashMusic has grabbed album highlight 'Pump Your Little Heart' as a free download. Already a favourite with fans, it contains a chorus big enough to fill stadiums. Chris Martin must be sweating...
