Bristol based experimental pop outfit Zun Zun Egui have split.
The band released two albums, with their latest – 'Shackles' Gift' – arriving on Bella Union earlier this year. A wonderfully vibrant release, the record packed together otherworldly psych-pop, tribal percussion and much more.
The good people at theQuietus point to a Facebook statement from the group, confirming that Zun Zun Egui are no more. The statement reads:
It is with great sadness that we announce that Zun Zun Egui are splitting up.
After 7 amazing years the stresses and strains of touring and working together have taken their toll and we feel it is time to go our separate ways and pursue other dreams and projects.
We thank Simon Raymonde, Anika, Duncan, Luke, Mark and everyone at Bella Union and PIAS, and Cecile and Clementine at 2 for the Road, Justin, Blue Mountain and Kobalt for all their hard work, and for believing in us. And most of all thank you to everyone who booked us, bought our albums and came to see us play, your support and kind words meant everything and have made it all worthwhile. Thank you. Matthew, Yoshino, Kushal, Adam and Stephen.
