Zomby has posted a new video highlighting four tracks from his forthcoming album 'With Love'.
Equally one of the most vital and reclusive figures in electronic music, Zomby's decision to release a new album caused waves earlier this year. Retaining his connection to 4AD, the 33-track LP 'With Love' is set to be released on June 17th.
Placing a few hints online, Zomby has already geared fans for a lengthy, probing work. Now a new video has emerged online highlighting four tracks from the album: 'Ascension', 'Sunshine In November', 'Overdose' and 'Memories'.
The clip itself is highly stylised – shot in black and white, it features a raft of models and some exceptional vintage Stone Island jackets. There's a lot of slo-mo, a lot of mirrors and a lot of drama with the short clip managing to feature birth, death and marriage.
'Ascension' is all broken house style shuffles, with sparse, gravestone atmospherics reminiscent of Zomby's own 'Dedication' set. 'Sunshine In November' is a piano piece heard only briefly, before 'Overdose' – and it's lairy, Blue Note era drum 'n' bass influences – comes bounding out of the speakers.
'Memories' meanwhile, is all angled knees and sharp elbows with Zomby matching a jagged sense of funk to a synths which border on the funereal.
It's deeply, deeply impressive.
