Yuck singer Daniel Blumberg is set to spark another side project by launching his own label Boiled Egg.
Daniel Blumberg likes to keep busy. Part of the four piece grunge inspired newcomers Yuck, the songwriter has also launched a number of side projects. Playing shows under the name Oupa, the singer has now moved to launch his own label.
Boiled Egg will be a home for his own stark solo material, as well as a few like minded friends. The emphasis is on the physical product, with the label scheduling a number of cassette releases.
Oupa will release their debut album ‘Forget’ through Boiled Egg on August 15th. Available on cassette and as a digital download, the solo project will be accompanied by a book of drawings completed by Blumberg during recording sessions.
Meanwhile, the singer is also preparing a re-issue. Previously working under the name Yu(c)k the stark acoustic balladry of ‘Weakend’ was initially handled by the tiny Mirror Universe imprint.
Now Yu(c)k will come under the same roof as Oupa, with ‘Weakend’ set to be re-issued on cassette.
Playing several solo shows, Oupa has frequently been joined by A Grace With No Name. Responsible for some uniquely personal vignettes, the songwriter is looking forward to shows with Sebadoh and Chad Valley.
Distorted, at times quite challenging material, A Grave With No Name has played a number of shows with Oupa. Very much similar minds, the opening releases establish a certain aesthetic for the label.
The two part cassette ‘Lower’ will be released on September 26th, and you can download the free preview cut ‘We Passed The Moon’ via BandCamp HERE.
