New Metronomy off shoot Your Twenties have confirmed details of their new single ‘Billionaires’.
Poor old Metronomy. No sooner do they settle on a permanent line up and release the addictive electro pop of ‘Nights Out’ than the band are rocked by the departure of Gabriel Stebbing.
The Brighton based group began life as an experimental electronic collective. Debut album ‘Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe)’ hinted at the band’s pop potential, yet never quite moved beyond its bedroom origins.
Gradually becoming a more serious prospect, Metronomy returned last year with ‘Nights Out’. Led by Joe Mount the band seemed to discover some dancefloor moves, with Metronomy gaining in electro-house muscle.
However the band were rocked earlier this year when Gabriel Stebbing left in order to pursue his own project. Joe Mount wrote on the band’s MySpace page that: “It’s all very amicable and he’s assured me he doesn’t think he’s fleeing a sinking ship. Gabriel wants to work on his own band, Your Twenties.”
Stebbing headed straight into the studio to work on new tracks. Crafting his own brand of pastel coloured electro pop, Your Twenties were soon snapped up by Neon Gold Records.
Working with Stephen Street – whose previous credits include Blur and The Smiths – the band are now ready to release their second single. ‘Billionaires’ is due to be released on September 7th and will be available on seven inch vinyl only.
Your Twenties are set to follow this with their eagerly awaited debut album. With a host of tour dates planned the band are set to bring their pop vision to a venue near you.
