Young Knives are set to release new album 'Sick Octave' on November 4th.
With their array of cardigans, tank tops and post-punk riffs, Young Knives helped stamp a deeply English template over Noughties indie. Working with Transgressive, the band's debut album (proper) 'Voices Of Animals And Men' even stomped into the Top 40 amidst a barrel-load of hype.
Since then, though, the band appeared to somewhat lose their way. Finding themselves without a label, Young Knives used Kickstarter to allow fans to help fund sessions for a proposed new album.
Stunned by the response, Young Knives were able to complete work on the LP, with fresh material due out at the end of the year. New album 'Sick Octave' will be released on November 4th, with electronic-hued track 'Something Awful' online now.
The track "is a mix of all different musical styles that we like. It’s got bits from Silver Apples, Bowie, Major Lazer, Led Zeppelin all mixed together. My grandpa’s Alzheimer’s inspired the lyrics, but I used that real experience to inform something more vaguely about metamorphosis. It’s also about changing into some kind of super killer monster."
