Last year, Scotland’s much adored T In The Park festival became the film set for a raucous, guerrilla filmed, rock n’ roll love story directed by David McKenzie. This year, it finally hits the screens.
Starring Luke Treadaway (Clash Of The Titans) as the swaggering lead role, You Instead, follows the trials and tribulations of two headstrong rival musicians, who, as fate would twist, accidentally find themselves handcuffed to each other.
The script was written by award winning painter and novelist Thomas Leveritt, and the gargantuan task of directing was left to David McKenzie, “It was going to be a huge challenge to try to incorporate the depth and business of this sort of event, giving it the authenticity that it demands, and we decided the best thing to do was to shoot it entirely at a music festival rather than try to reconstruct it. So very quickly we found ourselves with the not inconsiderable challenge of shooting a film in four and a half days”.
Quite appropriately, the world premiere of the film takes place at Glasgow Film Festival on February 25th, with extra viewings added to the Berlin Film Festival and SXSW 2011 to cope with demand for the picture. General release is yet to be confirmed, but we’ve been advised to keep our eyes peeled on Summer 2011, and so should you.
