Avant-pop auteur Yeule will release new album ‘Evangelic Girl Is A Gun’ on May 30th.
The songwriter’s incredible 2023 album ‘softscars’ broke fresh ground, a work of revelatory truth. Recalibrating their art, yeule will return this summer, with news of an incoming album, and a run of headline dates.
Out on May 30th via Ninja Tune, ‘Evangelic Girl Is A Gun’ is said to offer a “cyborgian” spin on Bristol trip-hop and ‘90s gothic. Once again working at the coal face of pop future, the record boasts production from A.G. Cook, Chris Greatti, Mura Masa, Clams Casino, Fitnesss and Kin Leonn.
Stripped from the record, new single ‘Skullcrusher’ is an uncompromising return – suitably intense, it was co-produced by yeule, Clams Casino and Fitnesss, and comes with a remarkable Neil Krug-directed video.
“I wanted to bring homage to my life as a painter with this album,” yeule says, explaining they’re influenced by the Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński. “For me, Beksiński portrays so beautifully, with utmost care, the entities that crawl through his dystopian, tranquil landscapes. The nature of painting as a medium is a reflection of my emotions, both violent and gentle. A fleeting moment of time in my life, transcribed with paint and trapped in time.”
Tune in now.
