Acclaimed Brooklyn group Yeasayer are set to join Bat For Lashes on the British band’s upcoming tour.
Brooklyn has to be one of the most musically fertile areas on the planet right now. OK, with it being Canada day and all, we’ll mentioned the city’s Northern neighbours but really the run of talent from the area is astonishing.
Beginning with Yeah Yeah Yeahs Brooklyn has churned out some truly exceptional acts. TV On The Radio should need no introduction, especially after the success of last year’s album ‘Dear Science’.
The band’s Dave Sitek ran a studio in Brooklyn for some time, recording a host of bands from around the world. Helping turn the city into a creative hot spot, the studio was recently forced to close due to spiralling rents in the area.
Yeasayer are a typically open minded product of their environment. Deeply experimental the band’s music seems to be utterly organic, with Yeasayer keen to stretch what is permissible in indie rock.
The band released their debut album ‘All Hour Cymbals’ in 2007. Unusual, thought provoking and actually a whole lot of fun the album brought Yeasayer plaudits and allowed many more fans to hear their music.
Since then Yeasayer have contributed a track to the mouth watering compilation ‘Dark Was The Night’. Also starring alongside the Brooklyn group were the likes of David Byrne, TV On The Radio and many, many more.
British dates by the band are few and far between, but Yeasayer have surprised fans by enrolling on the Bat For Lashes tour. Led by Natasha Khan, Bat For Lashes are capable of spectral moments of sheer beauty.
Releasing their second album ‘Two Suns’ earlier this year, Bat For Lashes have bowled over critics. Retaining the sound and maturity of their celebrated debut, the new album has been hailed as perhaps their finest yet.
With Yeasayer currently recording new material, the band are a fine addition to the tour. Yeasayer / Bat For Lashes will play the following dates:
