Yeah Yeah Yeahs Single News

'Heads Will Roll' new release

Brooklyn trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs have named recent album highlight ‘Heads Will Roll’ as their new single.

After a three year break, Yeah Yeah Yeahs have returned. The band who arguably re-introduced glamour and fashion into indie rock, the three-piece took their time in following up ‘Show Your Bones’.

Re-uniting with long time friend and producer Dave Sitek, the band headed into his Brooklyn studio to work on new material. Little realising that the album would be one of the last Sitek would complete in the studio, the lush textures of ‘It’s Blitz’ are a testament to that unique creative environment.

New album ‘It’s Blitz’ was met with some degree of confusion. Nick Zinner swapped his guitar for an array of antique synths, as the band seemed confident in their own ability to change their trademark sound.

However ‘It’s Blitz’ does have it’s fair share of stompers. First single ‘Zero’ came backed with a special remix by UK tour dates earlier this year.

The video to the track has been directed by Richard Ayoade – yep, him out of IT Crowd – and is quite stunning. Part ‘Thriller’ and part B-movie inspired, it sees the band battle a werewolf in a bizarre nightclub scene. Karen O, as ever, looks stunning in a red glitter outfit that comes complete with wings.

Ayoade is one of the most in demand directors in the music industry right now. Having shot a number of shorts the actor directed last year’s celebrated ‘Arctic Monkeys – Live At Manchester Apollo’ documentary.

The band are set to return to the UK shortly to complete a busy festival schedule. Astonishingly, Yeah Yeah Yeahs have never played Glastonbury before, a situation they will put right this summer.

Also on the ‘to do’ list for the trio is Scotland’s T In The Park, Oxegen and of course Reading And Leeds.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are set to release ‘Heads Will Roll’ on June 29th. Watch the video below…
