Brooklyn group Yeah Yeah Yeahs have released a special remix EP, featuring reworkings by heavyweights such as Animal Collective.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs last released an album with 2006’s ‘Show Your Bones’. Apart from an EP shortly after nothing has been heard of the band since, with Yeah Yeah Yeahs choosing to tour heavily and then take a break from music.
However the Brooklyn band reconvened in their hometown last year to work on new material. TV On The Radio’s sonic alchemist Dave Sitek was chosen to helm their third album, with the band convening in Sitek’s own studio.
Although now closed, Dave Sitek’s Brooklyn studio has churned out countless classic albums in recent times, including efforts by TV On The Radio, Pink Noise, Foals and many more. Sadly, due to spiralling rents the studio has now closed ending a pivotal chapter in the Brooklyn music scene.
New album ‘It’s Blitz’ shows Yeah Yeah Yeahs at their inspiring best. Nick Zinner swaps his guitar for antique synths as the band experiment with their sound, yet the album still contains many stomping rock classics to keep the fans happy.

The band recently spoke to Clash Magazine about the making of the album, revealing just how you go about following two of the most pivotal records of recent times.
The new EP contains remixes of recent single ‘Zero’. A breathless Karen O vocal towers over pounding drums and Zinner’s careering guitar lines, and the song has become an immediate favourite with fans.
However four brave remixers have stepped up to the plate to work on the track. Animal Collective have already this year released what many are arguing will be viewed as their masterpiece, but the band have taken time off from touring ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion’ in order to remix Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The band will be joined by all star project NASA. Standing for ‘North America South America’ this collective’s debut album contains guest appearances by a stunning array of stars, keen to add to their eclectic world-pop vision.
Also due to work on ‘Zero’ are dynamic duo MSTRKRFT and London’s electro knob-twiddler Erol Alkan.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs will release the United States only ‘Zero’ remix EP on June 9th.
