Wyclef Jean Album Plans

Timbaland to appear

Former Fugees songwriter turned solo star Wyclef Jean is set to return later this year with a new album.

An immigrant from Hiati, Wyclef Jean has always been interested in other cultures. A rasta from a young age the musician’s ceaseless search for new inspiration has often led him to areas outside the music world.

Becoming a global star with The Fugees, the singer then went on to have a hugely successful solo career. However since 2007’s ‘Carnival Vol II: Memoirs Of An Immigrant’ Wyclef Jean has concentrated more on his acting skills.

Now it seems that music has grabbed his imagination once again. Wyclef Jean has confirmed plans to release a new thirteen track ‘EP’ next month featuring a raft of unusual guests.

‘From The Hut To The Projects To The Mansion’ is due to be released in the United States on November 10th. A concept album, the title seems to refer to the classic story of immigrants – Jean’s previous group The Fugees took their name from slang for ‘refugees’.

A concept record, the forthcoming EP tells the story of the fictional character Toussaint St Jean. The character is based on the 18th century Haitian revolutionary Toussaint L’Ouverture, who helped lead a successful slave rebellion.

Amongst the guests on ‘From The Hut To The Projects To The Mansion’ are hip hop heavyweight Timbaland, Cyndi Lauper and Eve. Lauper appears on the track ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and goes under the name Luscious Loo.
