Reclusive newcomers WU LYF have unveiled the explosive video for their upcoming track ‘Dirt’.
World Unite! Lucifer Youth Foundation! As band names go, WU LYF are a little more adventurous than most.
The Manchester based act have spent the past couple of years honing their material, refusing to emerge from their rehearsal unless it was for a tiny residency. Playing one show a month, WU LYF managed to keep total control on their music and how it was perceived.
Bathed in darkness, shows move between indie and electronics, with a little hip hop thrown in along the way. The band have completed work on their debut album, which will – naturally enough – be released on their own label.
‘Go Tell Fire To The Mountain’ is undoubtedly one of the year’s most anticipated releases, both for true believers and cynics who want to see if the band can actually meet the hype.
Due for release on June 13th WU LYF have preceded the record with a number of videos. The latest finds album track ‘Dirt’ matched to scenes from a riot, including the recent student protests in London.
Shot by Fil Kaler, the result is a provocative video which either fuses youth culture to political protest or borrows a sense of cool from left wing causes (depending which side of the fence you are on….)
Make up your own minds after watching the video below…
