Cult Brooklyn acoustic mavericks Woods are set to release their new EP on March 21st.
Led by Jeremy Earl, Woods have established themselves as one of the most distinct groups in the United States. Whereas a generation of Brooklyn hipsters are struggling to get their next haircut, Woods have stuck doggedly to their own path.
At first just a mindset, then a label Woods’ music relies heavily on crafted songwriting and folk-heavy improvisation. However their dense acoustic music is a world away from New York’s alt folk scene.
Touring the UK last year, Woods won a cult following with their involvement on the Shred Yr Face 3 jaunt. With each show being completely different from the last, fans genuinely had no idea what to expect.
Currently putting the finishing touches to their new album ‘At Echo Lake’ the band are set to preview their material with a new EP.
A stand alone release, the EP contains plenty of extended soloing, oblique instrumentals and stripped down production. Woods are committed to home recording, with the new EP containing some unexpected material.
In addition to the breezy psych of ‘I Was Gone’ the EP will contain the three part tape collage / head scratcher ‘Days Gone By’. Limited to just 1500 copies the new EP will be released via Earls’ own Woodsist label.
Woods are to release ‘I Was Gone’ on March 21st. Tracklisting is as follows:
1. Days Gone By> Untitled > Days Gone By (continued)
2. I Was Gone
3. Hang On
