Winehouse Festival Plea

Singer wants to arrange summer dates

Controversial singer Amy Winehouse could be set for a number of surprise festival appearances.

It is now three years since Amy Winehouse released ‘Back To Black’. Three years in which the singer has transformed herself from Jools Holland fodder into a bona fide superstar. Bagging millions of record sales, a record breaking Grammy haul and more headlines that we care to remember, Amy Winehouse is one of the biggest stars of the decade.

Where she will go from here is anyone’s guess. Attempts to record a follow up album have collapsed on multiple occasions, with her record label said to be none too impressed with a proposed ska direction.

In an effort to escape the glare of the British media Winehouse ensconced to the Caribbean for several months, where she apparently found her muse again and began writing poetry. Falling in love with Saint Lucia, a performance was organised on the island which ended in farce.

The singer appeared drunk during the St Lucia Jazz Festival, and escaped from the stage citing sound problems. Booed by many of her fans, it appears that Amy Winehouse has not lost her love of festivals.

According to her spokesperson, the controversial singer is set to play a number of festivals over the summer.

“She intends to play some summer festivals, particularly the V Festival,” Winehouse’s spokesperson told the Daily Express.

Last year Amy Winehouse performed a number of festival dates that seemed to chart her decline. The singer had long fought off personal demons to give a fine show, but it seemed that her lifestyle had caught up with her.

At Scotland’s T In The Park she seemed confused, missing lyrics and stopping songs half way through. However the most contentious moment of the summer was at Glastonbury, where she defied the ethics of peace and love to lash out at a festival goer.

There has been no official confirmation of Amy Winehouse’s performance from V Festival.
