Wilko Johnson has organised a short series of UK tour dates as a means of saying farewell to fans.
A quietly influential guitarist, Wilko Johnson is a true one off. Remaining devoted to his native Canvey Island, the one time Dr Feelgood axeman is a much loved character in British music.
Sadly, the musician was diagnosed with terminal cancer earlier this year. A notice from management informed fans: "He is currently in good spirits, is not yet suffering any physical effects and can expect to enjoy at least another few months of reasonable health and activity."
Vowing to complete his touring obligations, Wilko Johnson is also planning a final CD. Alongside this, the guitarist has announced four British shows as a means of saying farewell to fans.
Manager Robert Hoy commented: “The four UK dates represent an opportunity for Wilko to express his sincere thanks to his fans for all the support he has had over his long career.”
