WILDES has announced her debut album ‘Other Words Fail Me’. The project is set for release on October 7th via AWAL.
The London-based singer-songwriter, also known as Ella Walker, has more than proven her mettle with two exceptional EPs that have accumulated more than 60 million streams to date.
WILDES explains that the project is inspired by accomplished chanteuses such as PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, and Sasami: “They are unapologetically honest women and musicians. They gave me permission to come out of the box I’d been cowering in.”
The album announcement comes with the release of uplifting new single ‘Far And Wide’. The track explores the importance of friendship, beginning with pensive muted guitar and building to sincere lyricism. ‘Far and Wide’ is sonically reminiscent of the candid folk-pop tone of Maggie Rogers. Mewling guitar ends the track, ringing out to provide listeners with the space to ponder their own friendships.
The single is accompanied by a self-directed video that shares glimpses of loving moments between Walker and her friends, depicting what Gen Z would only describe as “making core memories”.
Speaking on the track, Walker explained, “‘Far And Wide’ is a celebration of friendship. It reflects the madness and uncertainty of early adulthood and the constant change and turbulence we all go through. After neglecting them for a long time, I realised how constant and secure my friendships had become. They saved me, melting away my shame and holding me when I couldn’t cope.”
Tune in now.
