Wilco and Fleet Foxes have teamed up to give away a cover of the Bob Dylan classic “I Shall be Released” in aid of voter registration in the upcoming US elections.
The bands joined forces onstage to cover the classic anthem, which famously featured in the concert film “The Last Waltz”. In order to get a hold of the song, visit the Wilco official site and check a box saying “I pledge to VOTE in the 2008 Election.” Those who check the box and enter their name and email address will have the audio file sent to them.
Voter registration is extremely important, and given the tight margins between candidates every single vote counts. In a posting on their site, Wilco wrote:
If you can spare it, we also encourage you to consider a donation to (food bank charity) Feeding America (and please feel free to pass this link along to friends, family members, etc.).”
