Wilco will release new album ‘Cousin’ on September 29th.
The long-running American group refuse to let their light dim, continually producing exciting work. 2022’s ‘Cruel Country’ was an exceptional return, displaying Jeff Tweedy’s unrelenting creativity.
In a review, Clash wrote that the title is “neither ironic, nor frivolous: it’s a sprawling double-album that stands as one of Wilco’s best, an ever-moving meditation on the quest for connection in a country that’s often cruel but always worthy, in Tweedy’s eyes, of forgiveness.”
New album ‘Cousin’ continues this creative streak, and it comes at a busy time for the band. Set to complete a UK tour this September, Wilco are due to play sold out venues across the land.
The incoming LP was produced by Mercury nominated Welsh artist Cate Le Bon, boasting 10 new songs. New song ‘Evicted’ is wonderful – reminiscent of the Byrds in its gilded charm, there’s a wonderful sense of humanity to what Wilco accomplish.
“I’m cousin to the world,” frontman Jeff Tweedy confesses. “I don’t feel like I’m a blood relation, but maybe I’m a cousin by marriage.”
Tune in now.
