Whenyoung Share New Song ‘Rubik’s Cube’

A brooding, intriguing piece of guitar pop...

Whenyoung returns with new single ‘Rubik’s Cube’.

The duo – Aoife Power and Andrew Flood – will release new album ‘Paragon Songs’ on April 7th, plotting an album release show that very same night at Ramsgate Music Hall.

The previews are coming thick and fast, with new song ‘Rubik’s Cube’ presenting a puzzle to be solved. A song that seems to weave inside and then out, it’s an intricate slice of guitar pop that strives towards evolution.

Out now, it highlights the near-telepathic relationship between central duo, and their ability to push Whenyoung into fresh spaces. The pair comment…

“Ruminating is similar to the mechanics of a Rubik’s cube in the sense that the mind can brood over one problem until it’s solved but there always seems to be another unsolved part on the other side, waiting.”

“We composed this song by treating each section as a different side of the cube and each instrument as a square within that side, eventually coming to a resolution at the end. A bed of piano, synth and kick are carried along by interspersed guitar parts and soaring pop melodies.”

Tune in now.
