Proud Camden and Pioneer KURO are set to present a new, intimate, exhibition on the life of punk rock icon Sid Vicious.
Proud Galleries have announced the special exhibition which will feature unseen images of Sid Vicious alongside archive footage of the Sex Pistols in action. Amongst the photographers who have contributed to the event are Janette Beckman, Adrian Boot and Peter Gravelle to create what may well be the definitive portrait of the music legend.
Sid Vicious emerged as one of the key punk faces, drumming with Siouxsie Sioux before replacing notorious Beatles fan Glen Matlock in The Sex Pistols. Vicious earned tabloid furore due to his drug intake, and his habit of cutting himself onstage. After the Pistols imploded Vicious was groomed by Malcolm MacLaren as a potential solo artist, recording a punk rock version of the Sinatra classic “My Way”. However, after girlfriend Nancy Spungen was found dead a distraught Vicious OD’d on heroin, leaving behind an iconic punk rock myth.
The new exhibition aims to present the definitive portrait of Vicious, and will include excerpts from the forthcoming film “Who Killed Nancy?”, which investigates the untimely death of Nancy Spungen.
The Sid Vicious Exhibition runs from June 4th – August 12th in the Proud Galleries, London.
