Westerman Shares New Track ‘Outside Sublime’

It’s another shimmering slice of alt-pop...

Westerman has shared the second single off his new 'Ark' EP, which will be dropping next month.

It’s a hotly anticipated release, as the West London songwriter has been impressing audiences with his intelligent creative evolution: moving past his initial acoustic roots into an experimental, otherworldly pop realm.

The twinkling, meandering synths of new track ‘Outside Sublime’ speak to the inspiration Westerman says he draws from the 1980s synth pop his  mum would play in the car during early-morning journeys to school.

There’s an intriguing, wistful positivity in his glowing vocals too, as he sings in the hook: “Be what you want / I’ll always be your champion.”

”I wanted to write a note to a struggling friend,” Westerman explains about the song. “I hoped it would be an arm on the shoulder for anyone finding things difficult. I wanted to be really direct with this, and for it to feel joyful and powerful in an unobtrusive sort of way.”

The upcoming ‘Ark’ EP continues a string of collaborations with electronic producer Bullion which have shaped Westerman’s sound into a more ambient and bold project.

As well as releasing the new record next month, he’ll be playing a headline show at the Jazz Café in Camden, London, on 12 December.
