Welly’s ‘Soak Up The Culture’ Is A Raucous Summer Ode

"Do you know the way to Berghain...?"

Rising indie troupe Welly have shared new single ‘Soak Up The Culture’.

The band made their debut with the self-explanatory track ‘Shopping’, all jerky indie riffs and off piste pop touches. The five-piece are seemingly a bold, at times unhinged, live experience, and if you’re in London you can catch ’em at Third Man Records tonight (May 9th).

The reason? Well, there’s a new single in town.

Out now, ‘Soak Up The Culture’ is draped in summer energy, the sound of five people letting off some steam. Unbridled fun, the rousing chorus puts us in mind of long-time Lamacq show favourite ‘Where’s Me Jumper?’ by Sultans Of Ping FC – no bad thing, to be honest.

Backed by a frankly ridiculous video, Welly say of the single:

“There’s been a gap in the market for a lads-on-tour anthem, a gap-year themed song. I think ‘Soak Up The Culture’ is the natural predecessor to a lineage of classic ‘holiday’ tunes…’Summer Holiday’ by Cliff Richard, ‘Agadoo’ by Black Lace. ‘Soak Up The Culture’ promises to be the ‘Macarena’ for the Magaluf generation!”
