In a new interview Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo has revealed that the band have a number of European tour dates in the pipeline.
Weezer are a secretive bunch. Hidden away in their own world, the band have not played a full tour in some time.
In fact, the band’s most recent live performance was a private party where they played a mash up of MGMT and Lady Gaga. Possibly not an accurate depiction of their new album, Weezer confirmed in a recent interview that they are set to announce a series of European date.
Speaking to Australian radio station Triple J Rivers Cuomo was asked if the band had plans to tour Australia. “I want to come to Australia so bad. We don’t have any plans at the moment but we’re going to Europe for the first time in a long time next summer and ahhh… we’ll see.”
So: European dates.
Before then, however, fans can absorb the band’s new album ‘Raditude’. Featuring a guest appearance from rap superstar Lil Wayne, the record follows hot on the heels of last year’s underwhelming ‘Red Album’.
Rivers Cuomo revealed that he has an unusual test for his material. “I like listening to it when I’m running on the treadmill and it’s got to pass the treadmill test.”
“That means I get through a run where I’m going faster and faster and I don’t even feel any pain for the full, whatever, forty minutes of the album. And that’s when I know we’ve got a dope album.”
Weezer are set to release their new album ‘Raditude’ later this month.
