Clash Magazine emerged victorious from the PPA Scotland awards last night (November 29th), the team staggering back into the Dundee office clutching trophies a-plenty.
The PPA (Periodic Publishers Association) held their annual event at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. Hosted by family favourite Carol Smillie, the PPA knew little of what lay in store for them as the Clash crew returned home with sore heads and awards for Best Editor and Best Design.
The night was a great success for the magazine, with editor Simon Harper commenting on his prize by saying “it has capped a fantastic year for Clash”. Our esteemed leader was quick to pay tribute to those in the rock ‘n’ roll trenches, by dedicating his prize to “everybody who works so hard to put the magazine together”. It is not yet known where Simon will put his award, but it is suspected he will eventually find room amongst his myriad of gold discs and hair products.
Picking up the Best Design award for The 16K Design Works Paul Galbraith said “we couldn’t be more pleased – or hungover!” Clash were also nominated for Best Publisher, Best Brand Development and Best Online Presence.
Both awards confirm the progression Clash has made in 2007, as well as pointing to an extremely healthy future.
