Waze and Essel have called out Gordo after the headliner’s behaviour at a Ministry Of Sound show.
Gordo has watched his profile rocket over the summer, after producing six songs on Drake’s new house-leaning project. Touching down in London, Gordo headlined a heavy duty night at Ministry of Sound, joined by a range of top guests.
Bizarrely, Gordo was enjoying himself so much that he… simply refused to get offstage.
Social media murmurings kicked off the morning after, with Waze – who was also on the bill – apologising to fans, after Gordo’s lengthy set meant he couldn’t go onstage. Tactfully, he wrote: “Headline DJ refused to come off last night and the 2 acts after him (me and another DJ) lost our sets. I’m over a decade of playing I’ve honestly never seen this level of entitlement or arrogance and I’ve DJed with way bigger (and better) artists.”

Essel also lost her spot on the bill, and the DJ refused to go down quietly. In a note on IG Stories she apologised to fans, explaining that she had driven for 10 hours to be there, bringing friends and supporters to the club.
“As the time passed it became clear that Gordo wasn’t coming offstage for the next artist, not only this but he refused to come off my slot playing a total of three and a half hours.”
Discussing how “overwhelmed” she felt at missing out on his Ministry Of Sound debut, Essel praised Waze for his conduct, saying “you made my night worth it”.
