Merch stall to be expanded

Wavves singer Nathan Williams could be set to launch the band's own strain of weed.

Wavves are famously drugged up. Playing a Spanish festival back in 2009, singer Nathan Williams emerged completely dishevelled. A chaotic show followed, in which the frontman strummed his guitar aimlessly and revealed that he was on ecstasy.

Not a good advert for drug use... Returning home for an extended rest, it seems that Wavves have no intentions of going completely drug free.

Referencing weed in their lyrics, the band's merch stall contains rolling papers and a Wavves branded weed grinder. Speaking to Spinner, Nathan Williams explained that he is looking to expand the range.

"I smoke too much weed, I think that's how I come up with these things," he explained. "I've tried to get a strain of weed. Willie Nelson has one, Snoop Dogg has one. That would be really cool. It would just be called 'Wavves' because I think that would be a pretty good name."

"No bongs or pipes, though," he continued. "That's how they threw (Tommy) Chong in jail, I'm not going to fuck with that; the rolling papers and grinders are enough for now."

Wavves are currently on tour with Best Coast, led by Williams' girlfriend Bethany Cosentino. Playing a series of co-headline dates, the commitments have not stopped the singer from taking on other projects.

Alongside the weed related activities Nathan Williams is set to launch his own comic. "There's a lot of other things in the works, not just weed-related," he said. "I'm writing a comic right now with a friend of mine so I'll probably bring that along pretty soon".

That is, if Wavves can avoid the temptations of the road. "It's so weird because everybody in my band and Best Coast all know each other really well so it's hard not to make every night a big party" he said. "But you kind of have to pace yourself."
