Watch: The Kills – The Last Goodbye

Directed by Samantha Morton

The Kills have shot a video for their new single ‘The Last Goodbye’ with Samantha Morton.

Is it really ten years? According to the press release we’ve just been sent, The Kills are celebrating a decade together. Yet watching them onstage in London before Christmas, the band had enough energy to burn groups of a much younger vintage out of the venue.

Celebrating their tenth anniversary in style, The Kills are set to release their new single ‘The Last Goodbye’ on February 13th. Available on limited edition 7 inch through The Kills webstore, the track is also set to be released generally on 10” / Digital Download.

The full video for ‘The Last Goodbye’ was unveiled by the band and Sam Morten last week at the W Hotel, London.Currently, the full video is not available online so here’s a trailer accompanied by some illuminating quotes…

“It was an honor to work with Samantha Morton on this Casablanca-esque, silent-film-esque, Americana photobooth Woolworth’s hay day period piece of surrealism/ realism/ story time tell-tale-ism, black and white 35 mm film, washed in strange light, over this love hate tune, heartbreak song, life-goes-on lullaby, The Last Goodbye. It’s a doorway into the future of the fatal past-tense. Get it?” Alison Mosshart

“I love the fact that when you used to go to a photo booth, you used to have wait sometimes a good twenty minutes. It could be 8 minutes, 9 minutes. Sometimes, I remember, if they were really crap, you’d have to wait forever and you’d go off for a cup of tea and you’d come back to get your passport pictures and they were there. Also, it was quite expensive when we were young. It was like a real treat but now, it’s still expensive but you just get these crap images of yourself. They’re just horrible and they won’t last in the same way. So in a way a think the song was incredibly nostalgic and I think made me feel nostalgic.” Samantha Morton
