The Drums have unveiled a new video featuring them chatting with indie legends The Wake.
The Drums have always been open about their influences. The band have been careful to shout about their indie forebears during interviews, paying their respects to the musicians who fuelled imprints such as Factory, Creation and Sarah Records.
Maintaining their weekly ‘Visiomento’ web TV series, The Drums recently pulled a surprise on fans. Tracking down original members of The Wake, the band took part in a round table discussion.
The Wake were formed in Glasgow, on the fringes of the milieu which followed the emergence of Orange Juice. Signing with Factory Records, the band evolved beyond spiky post-punk to tackle 60s influences.
Releasing a series of cult albums, The Wake were later picked up by esteemed Bristol label Sarah Records. Chatting on camera for what is apparently the first time, you can watch the latest Visiomento below…

Meanwhile, The Drums have also handed ‘How It Ended’ over to the former members of Add N To (X). Currently on hiatus, Barry7 took control of the remix which is a bizarre, inspiring dis-mantling of the original.
