Watch Shane Hawkins Honour His Father At Foo Fighters Memorial Show

It's an incredible performance...

Shane Hawkins may just have topped an incredible bill at the Taylor Hawkins memorial show last night (September 3rd).

The loss of Taylor Hawkins earlier in the year hit fans hard, sparking an emotional wave of tributes that spanned the globe. Foo Fighters cancelled all plans to grieve, before announcing a pair of shows, one in London and one in Los Angeles.

Gathering friends, peers, and heroes together, Foo Fighters planned a special evening in celebration of their comrade. In the end, the list of stellar names for London’s Wembley Stadium contained all manner of surprises – Liam Gallagher joined Foo Fighters to sing ‘Live Forever’, Them Crooked Vultures reformed for an incredible one off set, while guests also included Rush and Queen.

Amongst these rock icons stood Taylor Hawkins’ family, and his son Shane – just 16 years old – could well have topped the bill. As it turns out, Shane Hawkins is an incredible drummer himself – well, he learned from the best – and his turn behind the kit on ‘My Hero’ was simply unstoppable.

A cathartic moment of union and release, the performance stood out from the many, many highlights with its powerful sense of drama and emotion; from Dave Grohl’s caring glances to the bravura drumming itself, ‘My Hero’ is truly unforgettable.

There’s a full Clash report incoming – the show will take time to proceed – but clips have already made a deep impression online.
