New footage of Radiohead rehearsing for their spectacular performance at this year’s Grammy Awards has emerged.
Radiohead technically released their industry busting album ‘In Rainbows’ in 2007, but the plaudits keep on coming. The pay-what-you-want strategy has proved to be the most successful integration of the internet into standard release practice, with many band’s and labels following in Radiohead’s wake.
The band were nominated for several awards at the recent Grammy ceremony in Los Angeles. Radiohead were also invited to perform, and chose to use the University of Southern California Marching Band in their set.
Much rehearsals were needed to hone the performance, with amazing footage leaking onto Youtube of the band in preparation. At one point a laid back looking Thom Yorke tells the group that the “snare drums are too busy” before playing a version of ’15 Steps’.
Radiohead eventually won the Grammy for ‘Alternative Music Album’ but offended many in the process. Revered by their peers both Miley Cyrus and Kanye West asked to meet the band but were refused – much to their annoyance.
