Perfume Genius is set to release new single ‘Dark Parts’ on June 4th – watch the video below.
So: a new Perfume Genius video. Let’s hope it doesn’t generate the same reaction which met ‘Hood’ – featuring Michael Hadreas cavorting with a gay porn star, elements of the video were banned by YouTube.
A humorous, tongue in cheek affair the row drew widespread dis-belief, with even Michael Stipe getting involved.
The second single from recent album ‘Put Your Back N 2 It’, ‘Dark Parts’ should hopefully avoid the fuss which dogged its predecessor. A beautiful hymn, the song was seemingly written in tribute to Hadreas’ mother.
Speaking recently, the songwriter admitted that he wanted to “take something from her life that wasn’t happy and turn it into something triumphant, to remind her how strong and beautiful and loved and important she is”.
The single is due to be released on June 4th, and comes accompanied with a surreal yet striking clip. Directed by Winston H. Case, you can watch the clip below:
