Believe it or not, but Sir Paul McCartney tends to put the process of making a video to the back of his mind.
Speaking to Rolling Stone recently, the iconic singer said: "When I've got a song, I don't think about the video. I'm sure some people do, but I don’t. I just think about the song, first writing it, then recording it."
Director Vincent Haycock stepped in to supply an idea for 'Early Days', a cut from last year's studio album 'New'. Ostensibly focussing on a young Paul McCartney and John Lennon, the film maker decided to switch location to the American south.
Set in the 1950s, the clip focusses on two aspiring blues singers. Switching to the present, Sir Paul McCartney leads a jam session with older versions of these musicians – oh, and Johnny Depp for good measure.
"I happened to ring Johnny Depp," McCartney explained. "I said, 'Come along and we'll sit around and jam with these blues guys.' He said, 'Yeah, OK, count me in, man.' I knew it was an offer he couldn't refuse."
