A host of friends and admirers of Talos saluted the late Irish musician with a special performance over the weekend.
A wonderful talent, Talos thrived on subtlety, with his work blessed with an incredibly impactful degree of emotional. Working with a number of musicians along the way, the passing of Talos – Cork songwriter Eoin French – sparked a wave of tributes.
Over the weekend, Tommy Tiernan’s chat show on RTÉ closed with a special performance, bringing together many of those close to Talos for a one-off salute.
It’s an emotional watch, with the assembled talents performing ‘We Didn’t Know We Were Ready’ – a song penned during the 2023 Sounds from a Safe Harbour festival in Cork.
The glittering cast list Ólafur Arnalds and Jófrídur Ákadóttir (JFDR), Kate Ellis, Sandrayati Fay, Steph French, Dermot Kennedy, Louise Leahy, Memorial, The Staves, Ye Vagabonds and Christ Van Der Ven.
“The song is an expression of community and creativity that has now taken on meanings we could never have imagined back when we wrote it,” wrote Ólafur Arnalds earlier today. “Barely a day goes by where I don’t think about how fortunate we are to have this platform to channel our grief into.”
