Japanese post-rock group MONO have posted a trailer for their new album ‘For My Parents’ online.
With near orchestral flourishes and often brutal use of volume, MONO have crafted an identity as one of the world’s finest post-rock bands. Like an un-hinged version of Mogwai, the Japanese band have built up a wonderful catalogue of (primarily instrumental) material.
Signalling their return, MONO will release new album ‘For My Parents’ through Temporary Residence Ltd on September 3rd.
Previously building up a relationship with Steve Albini, the new material finds MONO breaking this habit. Deciding to head to pastures new, the Japanese band chose to work with New York producer, Henry Hirsch, recording in a converted cathedral overlooking the Hudson River.
Set to emerge in September, MONO recently posted a trail for their upcoming album. Watch a clip below.
