R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe dropped by Jimmy Fallon last night (November 17th) and played a short password game with stars of the Muppets.
Set to part company, R.E.M. have enjoyed many highlights in their career. Emerging from the post-punk underground, the band took their music across the globe with a series of vastly successful albums.
Yet the band never quite lost their sense of humour. Invited to appear on Sesame Street, R.E.M. stopped by the children’s television show for a one off rendition of their re-worked single ‘Furry Happy Monsters’.
With that in mind, Michael Stipe’s appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon isn’t so surprising. The R.E.M. frontman was invited on the show to discuss the band’s split and their upcoming ‘Best Of’ collection ‘R.E.M., Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982 – 2011’.
Part of the show is the Password game, in which guests compete against one another. Joining Michael Stipe was – perhaps appropriately – both Kermit and Miss Piggy.
