MC Hammer has released a new video featuring a track blasting rap heavyweight Jay-Z.
MC Hammer remains a lingering image in hip hop. Seen as a figure of fun, the rapper stands as a benchmark for how the form can completely lose all self respect in pursuit of those dollar bills.
However his fame didn’t bring MC Hammer happiness. Blowing his vast fortune, the rapper eventually became a church minister.
Recently Jay-Z dragged his spectre back onto the hip hop scene in a new rap. The Brooklyn kingpin worked with Kanye West on a new track, with ‘So Appalled’ containing the lyrics: “I lost 30 mil, so I spent another 30/ Cos unlike Hammer, 30 million can’t hurt me.”
Released on Twitter, what Jay-Z didn’t reckon was MC Hammer being one of the site’s most prominent users. The minister was enraged, and promised revenge in the form of a new track which would blast Jay-Z.
Now MC Hammer has made good on his word. ‘Better Run Run’ is available now, and comes complete with a video which shows the rapper chasing an overweight Jay-Z before dumping him in a nearby lake.
Containing the line “if I knocked on your door would you come on out?” the track is full of sideswipes at Jay-Z.
