The video for Mark Lanegan’s new track ‘The Gravedigger’s Song’ has emerge online.
Mark Lanegan hasn’t released a solo album in almost eight years. Yet listening to his new record ‘Blues Funeral’ you get the impression of a songwriter who has never lost focus, never lost sight of his aims.
Out on February 6th, ‘Blues Funeral’ is eagerly awaited by fans. Ahead of the release, Mark Lanegan has issued ‘The Gravedigger’s Song’ as a limited colour 7″ vinyl and digital single, featuring a new version of ‘Burning Jacob’s Ladder’.
‘The Gravedigger’s Song’ comes complete with a new video, pieced together by Alistair Legrand for The Masses. A quote from the director himself:
“Inspired by the song, I wanted to create something dark and elegant that took place inside of a haunted house. That’s just what the song sounded like to me; a dream-like world of slow motion, macabre imagery. I also loved the idea of a video where you are finding unsettling things in the dark with a flashlight, you look even though you don’t want to look. This probably comes from growing up on a wonderfully creepy farm. A story of sisters, ghosts and roses started to take shape as the video was shot.”
