LCD Soundsystem kicked off their Brooklyn Steel residency last night (November 23rd).
The group announced the 20 show stand earlier this year, marking the band's return to live duties after three years.
It's a small venue by their standards, and the run comes after synth player Gavilán Rayna Russom confirmed her amicable departure from the line up.
The first show opened last night – November 23rd – and while it didn't contain new material, LCD Soundsystem did spring a few surprises.
Digging into their catalogue, the group included a cover of Spacemen 3's noise rock epic 'Big City' – the seminal group's final single, as it happens – alongside a performance of Joy Division's 'No Love Lost'.
Stereogum were there, and have posted a highly positive review – they've also pointed fans in the direction of a crowd-shot clip featuring the full show.
