A new video has emerged of Guy Garvey and Peter Gabriel dissecting the art of songwriting.
Peter Gabriel has entered a deeply collaborative phase of his career. Last year’s album ‘Scratch My Back’ saw the English artist compile a series of covers, inviting other songwriter’s to tackle his own back catalogue.
Since then, Peter Gabriel has focussed on the forthcoming ‘New Blood’ project. Delving into his own output, the songwriter has offered a series of new interpretations which often turn well known material on its head.
Disposing of traditional rock instruments, Peter Gabriel has chosen to work with a 46 piece orchestra. Renowned conductor Ben Foster took charge of the orchestra, who assisted in Gabriel’s reinvention of his own back catalogue.
Elbow are well known for their vast arrangements. The Bury group have worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, while the Crouch End Festival Choir are frequent collaborators.
Taking a break from touring their new album ‘Build A Rocket Boys!’ Elbow singer Guy Garvey agreed to sit down and chat with Peter Gabriel. Using the internet, the long distance call pits two very distinct talents against one another.
