Frightened Rabbit have posted an early demo version of ‘Boxing Night’ – check it out below.
Music seems to be pouring out of Frightened Rabbit. The band are putting the finishing touches to their new album, but first the Scottish group have decided to release upcoming EP ‘State Hospital’.
Due out on September 24th, highlights include ‘Boxing Night’. Frightened Rabbit recently pointed fans towards an early demo version, featuring Scott Hutchison performing the song alone armed only with an acoustic guitar.
Watch it below.
Here’s a quick quote from Scott Hutchison to expand further.
“Boxing Night took around 6 years to get to where it now sits (alone, drinking, in its pants probably). It just never quite worked, mostly because the verse melody was a fairly strong hook, and I struggled for a long time to find a chorus to match it.”
“So for years it was just a dull, one dimensional run through a bleak night I had one winter. The latest version was worked up from the re-write we did whilst we were demo-ing in a house in the Scottish Borders last year. The same session that spawned ‘Scottish Winds’. We filmed this little video shortly after that re-write, just outside the back door of the house. Some of the lyrics have changed a bit since, but like I said, this one’s been constantly evolving. I’m pleased that its finally ‘done’.”
‘State Hospital’ is set to be released on September 24th.
