Egyptian Hip-Hop have released the video for their latest single ‘S.Y.H.’ – Watch it now.
The Manchester quintet emerged from the indie wave of 2010, with the angular break out single ‘Rad Pitt’ from ‘Some Reptiles Developed Wings’ EP. They aren’t you’re typical guitar driven indie band though, having dallied with the odd dance-pop hook. So it’s a minor surprise that they return 2 years later with a much sharper electronic edge on ‘S.Y.H.’, led by a tasteful keyboard riff and woozy vocals.
The visuals compliment the single’s dark atmospheric sense. Lights flicker primary colours switch at the close of a bar, not forgetting the occasional flash of the keyboard, drums and side-facing lead singer just to reaffirm that we’re not actually watching a mood gaging lava lamp, but an Isaac Eastgate produced music video. It’s all very shady and mysterious, inducing a sense of ‘moth-to-light’, or ‘child-to-shiny-things’.
Upon watching this hypnotic clip the unexplainable urge to see them live may occur. Lucky then, that they have a short run of UK dates in Glasgow, Manchester and London in October, to compliment the release of their debut album ‘Good Don’t Sleep’ which will be released on October 22nd after an extended hiatus.
