British Sea Power have posted the video for new track 'Machineries Of Joy' – watch it below.
For a while there, it seemed as though that great British tradition of melding guitars to artful sensibilities had dried up. However the past year has proved us wrong, with countless newcomers emerging to impact fresh ideas on a tried and tested template.
Which is perhaps why it's appropriate for British Sea Power to make their return. New album 'Machineries Of Joy' will be released later this year, with Rough Trade once again supporting the group.
Out on April 1st, the album was written in the Berwyn mountains in north Wales and recorded in Brighton with Dan Smith and mixer Ken Thomas (David Bowie, Sigur Ros).
Ahead of this, the band have posted the video for title track 'Machineries Of Joy'. Featuring a young lady cycling down a country lane, the video takes a turn for the strange when a series of sculptures come to life.
Beautifully shot, the clip has an optimistic nature which is difficult to shrug off. “The world often seems a mad, hysterical place at the moment" Yan explains. "You can’t really be oblivious to that, but we’d like the record to be an antidote – a nice game of cards in pleasant company.”
